NY Supplier — Construction Materials & Forming Systems Distributor
A catalog-and-quote website for a construction supply distributor, built around what a contractor actually needs to know: is it in stock, and how fast can I get it.
Overview
NY Supplier is a concept build for a construction materials and forming systems distributor serving contractors across a metropolitan trading area.
The entire site is organized around two questions a contractor asks before anything else: do you stock what I need, and can it be on my jobsite when I need it. Product depth, brand coverage and quote requests are all subordinate to answering those.

- Context
- Construction supply is a repeat-purchase, availability-driven business. The buyer is often a project manager or purchasing agent under schedule pressure, frequently checking on a phone from a jobsite rather than at a desk.
The business challenge
Distributors compete on inventory, delivery and relationship rather than price alone, but most distributor websites read as brochures and force a phone call for basic availability or specification questions.
The digital challenge
A broad catalog, concrete forming systems, finishing and power tools, general jobsite supply, has to stay navigable without becoming an unmaintainable product database, while still routing serious buyers into a quote.
Our approach
- 01
Lead with availability and delivery rather than company history, because that is the actual purchase driver in construction supply.
- 02
Organize the catalog by how contractors search, by system and application (forming systems, finishing, power tools, jobsite supply), not by internal SKU hierarchy.
- 03
Make Request a Quote the primary action throughout, with the phone number persistently visible for buyers who will always prefer to call.
UX & UI strategy
- •Mobile-first layout on the assumption that a significant share of visits come from a jobsite on a phone, often in poor light and with gloves on.
- •Brand coverage surfaced early, since stocked brands are a genuine trust and compatibility signal for contractors.
- •Short paths: category, product range, quote. No marketing interstitials between a buyer and an enquiry.
Development approach
- •Catalog structured so categories and product ranges can be extended without redesigning pages.
- •Quote request built as the primary conversion path, structured to capture the product context the buyer was viewing.
Key features
Product catalog architecture
Category and range structure organized by construction system rather than internal SKU logic.
Request a Quote flow
Primary conversion path, present in the header and throughout the catalog.
Brand partner presentation
Stocked brands surfaced as a compatibility and credibility signal.
Services alongside products
Distribution supported by service content, since contractors buy the relationship as well as the material.
Persistent phone contact
Direct dial kept visible, because a large share of construction enquiries still start as a call.
