A scroll-driven technical narrative that explains a multistage industrial water treatment system without burying the engineering under marketing copy.

Overview

H2O Aqua is a concept build exploring how an industrial water treatment manufacturer can explain a technically complex system to a mixed audience: plant engineers who want specifications, and executives who want to understand the value.

Rather than a conventional product grid, the site follows a single drop of water through the treatment chain. Each stage is its own section with its own technical detail, so a visitor can either scroll the whole story or jump to the stage that matters to them.

Context
Industrial water treatment is a considered, specification-led purchase. Buyers are typically plant engineers, facilities managers or procurement teams evaluating several suppliers against a technical requirement, not browsing.

The business challenge

Water treatment manufacturers sell systems that are genuinely difficult to differentiate on a web page. Competing suppliers list similar equipment with similar specifications, so the website has to communicate engineering competence, not just product availability.

The digital challenge

Technical content tends to be either oversimplified (losing the engineer) or dumped as raw specification tables (losing everyone else). The build had to serve both without splitting into two separate sites.

Our approach

    Structure the site as a process narrative, sediment capture, activated carbon, ultrafiltration, ion exchange, then reverse osmosis and UV sterilization, so the technology explains itself in the order it actually works.

    Give each stage a dedicated section with its own specifications, so a buyer researching membrane rejection or micron ratings can find that detail in context rather than in an appendix.

    Segment applications explicitly, pharmaceutical, food and beverage, laboratory, commercial, power and energy, healthcare and microelectronics, because water specification differs sharply by sector.

UX & UI strategy

  • A guided vertical scroll that mirrors the physical treatment process, so the information architecture matches the buyer's mental model.
  • Progressive technical depth: headline claim first, supporting specification underneath, so both audiences are served by the same section.
  • Restrained, high-contrast visual treatment appropriate to an engineering audience rather than a consumer one.

Development approach

  • Section-based build with scroll-linked transitions, kept lightweight so the page still performs on a plant network rather than an office connection.
  • Specification content structured as data rather than baked into images, so it stays selectable, searchable and accessible.
